What is The Liverpool Teacher Development Partnership (TDP) Programme ?

What does our programme look like?

Our programme is delivered in partnership with Liverpool Hope University and the training lasts for one academic year (September-July).

On successful completion of your training year you will be awarded a PGCE, masters credits for your academic assignments and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).

Your programme will consist of:

  • Time ‘practicing your craft’ through high quality school placements;

  • Access to a high quality curriculum delivered by colleagues at St John Bosco Arts College, Partner Schools and Liverpool Hope University;

  • A series of Intensive Training and Practice (ITaPs) enabling you to deepen your understanding and competence in key areas of your subject delivery;

  • Support along the way from several different colleagues, an assigned school based Subject Mentor, a Professional Mentor and a University Based Tutor.

If you secure a place on this route the tuition fees are paid to Liverpool Hope University in a series of instalments across the academic year. Please be aware when applying that some subjects are eligible for bursaries. Bursaries are reviewed annually by the DFE and change from year to year in light of Teacher Workforce needs. Further information regarding bursaries can be found on the 'Get Into Teaching' Website.

APPLICATIONS FOR SEPTEMBER 2025 ARE OPEN NOW AND BEING ACCEPTED.

Secondary Placements:

For our trainee teachers, the initial teacher training year is only the first step on a path to rapid career progression.

As well as Initial Professional Development sessions, we want you to leave us secure in your teaching skills and ready for a highly successful future in education.

We provide you with a subject mentor who will observe you regularly, provide you with formative feedback and give you individualised training and support. Our mentors are outstanding teachers, but they are required to undertake a rigorous training programme to develop their mentoring skills. This includes coaching, effective classroom observation and feedback skills.

We have ambitious plans for our trainee teachers and know that they will all leave us with the potential to become outstanding teachers, ready to continue with their careers in the rewarding world of teaching.
