Many congratulations on obtaining a place with us at St john Bosco arts College, where our students are happy, hardworking and successful; they thrive in a Salesian ethos which promotes Christian values, high expectations and exemplary behaviour. We aim to provide every child with the ability to develop lively, enquiring and creative minds, and the skills and abilities to reach the highest personal and academic standards.
Once you have received notification from the LEA stating your application has been successful it is important that you confirm your acceptance/decline of the place as soon as possible as the school has a waiting list. You can do this by emailing enquiries@stjohnbosco.org.uk or you can phone the school on 0151 330 5142 and speak to a member of the admin team who will log your response.
Once your place is confirmed you will be notified of dates for the following transition projects, which have all been designed to help students move into secondary school successfully.
Intake Meetings - A short meeting with a member of our team. This is an opportunity to ask questions and help us to get to know you a little more.
Year 6 Transition Day - A nation wide project, where children spend the day in their new school to enjoy a full day of activities, meeting other new starters and their teachers.
Summer School - A week in the school full of fun activities held over the summer break. This is a brilliant chance to get to know staff, meet new friends and get to know the school building.
The Climb - This project involves children coming to our school from across the city without any other children from their primary school. Parents have the opportunity to discuss this extra transition day with our school chaplain during the intake meetings. Students are then invited to spend one full day here at St John Bosco Arts College to spend time with our Year 7 students and other Year 6 ‘solo’ students.
We also run another transition project in conjunction with our feeder primary schools:
Big Fish Little Fish - Lead by our school Chaplain and aimed at those students who have been identified by primary teachers as needing extra support with the transition to secondary school. Students will be invited to spend a day here with us.
